FastEx Courier Rates: How Shipping Charges Are Calculated
A plain guide to FastEx courier prices: real weight and size weight, routes, services and how to use the online tariff tool for a price estimate.
How FastEx Works Out Courier Prices
FastEx is the courier brand of Daewoo Express and delivers parcels to the door. It does not have one fixed price for every parcel. The price depends on where the parcel starts and ends, how heavy and how big it is, and the service you choose. So there is no single public price list; each parcel is priced for its own trip.
Knowing what affects the price helps you pack well, avoid paying for empty space and get a good estimate before you go to an Express Center.
The Main Things That Affect Your Price
Every price quote usually depends on four things.
Route
Parcels within the same city usually cost less than parcels going to another city, such as between Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi or Faisalabad. Faraway places may cost more. Check your route on the tariff calculator.
Real Weight vs Size Weight
Couriers usually charge by whichever is higher: the real weight on the scale or a weight worked out from the size of the box. Big, light parcels take up space, so they may cost more than their weight suggests.
Type of Service
Home delivery, cash on delivery (COD) and Globex international courier are separate FastEx services, and each has its own prices. International parcels go by air and need export paperwork, so they cost more to handle.
Packing and Extras
Ask at the counter whether any packing materials or extra services, such as flyers or extra wrapping, add to the price. Your booking receipt should list every charge.
Understanding Dimensional (Volumetric) Weight
People are often surprised when a light box costs more than expected. Vans and planes have limited space. A big box of pillows weighs little but takes up a lot of room.
Size Weight Formula:
Size Weight (kg) = [Length (cm) × Width (cm) × Height (cm)] / a number set by the courier
For Globex international parcels, FastEx divides by 5,000. We could not confirm the number FastEx uses for domestic parcels, so ask at the counter. Staff measure the outside of your parcel before they book it.
Using the Online Tariff Calculator
Follow these steps to get a price estimate before you book.
FastEx has an online tariff calculator on its website at fastex.pk/tariff/. Before you go to an Express Center, have these details ready:
- Sending city: Choose the city where you will send the parcel from.
- Delivery city: Choose the city or area where it will be delivered.
- Weigh it: Weigh the sealed box or flyer in kilograms or grams.
- Measure it: Measure the longest length, width and height in centimetres, including any flaps or handles.
- Choose a service: Choose home delivery within Pakistan or Globex for international parcels.
How Home Delivery, COD and Globex Prices Differ
Each type of service has its own things to consider:
Home Delivery
For prepaid parcels and documents. The price covers transport and delivery to the door, with no cash collection.
Cash on Delivery (COD)
For online shop orders. As well as the delivery price, COD includes collecting cash from the buyer and paying it to the seller. Business sellers are paid twice a week, and walk-in sellers within 48 hours.
Globex International
For parcels going abroad by air. It includes export paperwork. Insurance of 2% of the invoice value is required for goods worth more than PKR 100,000. Customs duties are set by the destination country.
Verifying Your Shipping Invoice
When you book at a FastEx Express Center, always get a booking receipt that shows the tracking number, the weight recorded on the scale and the total you paid. Keep it as proof of payment and for any questions about delivery.
